What are coffee pods ?Espresso pods are freshly roasted coffee, ground perfect, tampered to the correct pressure and then encapsulated in paper. ESE Coffee Pods are made to a standard size of 44mm with 6.8g - 7.0g of coffee per pod, or 62mm 'Senseo System' pods with 7.0g - 8.0g of fresh ground coffee. The original pod was designed by Illy caffe, in 1996 Illy opened its idea to the coffee industry to bring a standard pod size to the market. Many machine manufacturers now have adaptors to use in their machines to accept coffee pods. By using pods in your machine not only can you guarantee perfect results, there is no mess and pods help to look after your machine. In fact used pods can even be put into your garden composter! Coffee pods, also know as coffee pads, coffee pod or ESE espresso pod, pods are a simple way to make perfect espresso and with excellent results. By replacing the filter plate in the group handle, almost all traditional commercial and domestic espresso machines can use coffee pods, no need for a coffee grinder, or to tamper, no packets of coffee beans or ground coffee left open.
